Earning Recognition
Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity constantly strives to better its national condition through a system of recognition for the achievement of each entity. This is accomplished by a three-step process of recognition, of which at the keystone lies Chapter Status.
The three levels of recognition are Chapter, Associate Chapter, and Colony. An entity is recognized as a Colony immediately upon inception. Colonies are the smallest entities in terms of membership. In order for a Colony to become an Associate Chapter, the entity must remain a Colony for a certain amount of time, as well as meet certain membership and financial requirements, and meet certain guidelines for community service involvement. The next and highest step of recognition is Chapter status.
Chapter status is achieved when an Associate Chapter maintains and further improves upon the requirements of attaining Associate Chapter status for a certain amount of time. These requirements include increased goals of community service, finances, and membership.
